  Interzine investigates Celia Green
Celia Green perhaps uses the word "sanity" ironically, as she is contriving to demonstrate that the prevailing outlook is in fact unrealistic; and one might have preferred to retain a use for the word close to the ostensible meaning—for example, "sanity" could have denoted "a state of mind characterized by realism of outlook".
According to Celia Green's analysis, the apex of civilization to date was achieved late in the last century; the culture "contained ideas hitherto not formulated".
I have spoken with Celia Green twice, first in May 1992 in Oxford, and again by phone in October 1993.

Constantine Sandis reviews The Lost Cause: Causation and the Mind-Body Problem by Celia Green
Green’s overall agenda is to question the metaphysical underpinnings of the physicalism which currently prevails in the philosophy of mind, and in particular as it relates to the topic of mental causation.
Green suggests that the physicalism in question is motivated by features of our macroscopic experience of causation which cannot be licitly imported to the microlevel.
Unfortunately Green’s characteristic polemic style throughout the book (and her almost political approach to her being part of a philosophically estranged minority) does herself no justice, as many of the issues she raises as old as they are complicated, though her writing leaves no indication of this.

Green found that 12% of single cases occurred during sleep, 32% when unconscious, and 25% were associated with some kind of psychological stress, such as fear, worry, or overwork.
Green separated her cases into those she called 'parasomatic,' involving another body, and those she termed 'asomatic' in which there was no other body.
Green found that 93% of single cases included vision, a third also had hearing, but the other senses were rarely noted.

Green: I first became aware of lucid dreams when I was writing my Oxford post-graduate thesis on unusual states of consciousness with Professor H.H. Price as my supervisor.
Green: All metachoric experiences have obvious similarities in that they provide a person with a substitute environment which entirely replaces the physical world as normally perceived.
Green: I think the answer to this probably depends on the relationship of meta-choric experiences to normal perception, and part of the answer may be that they don’t require much to be triggered.
