But even as cell phones are increasingly tricked out with MP3 players, television and games, analysts said it's unlikely people will rush to replace their iPods with music-playing cell phones.
Napster's mobile music service for the phone will work like Napster To Go: Subscribers will be able to synch their phones with their PCs and fill up, or "sideload," the phones with tunes.
But there are still a number of hurdles to overcome for music on cell phones to be seamless for customers to use, experts said.

The direct methanol fuel cells, built into a 75-gram flash memory based music player and a 270 gram hard disk based music player, use 100 percent methanol.
The fuel cell generates 100 milliwatts (mW)-- enough to power most mobile devices using thick methanol--allowing the use of a compact fuel tank.
For the music players, Toshiba engineers modified the last year's fuel cell to design two cell packages, a smaller 23 x 75 x 10 mm package to house a 3.5 ml methanol tank, and a larger 60 x 75x 10 mm package for a 10 ml tank.

Apple's iTunes Music Store, which was the first to market, is currently the most popular music download service, generating the majority of online music sales.
If Apple's iTunes Music Store customers want to play their tracks on the move, they have to buy one of Apple's iPod portable music players, or burn their songs on a compact disc (CD) and play them on a portable CD player.

The New York band Cell consists of singer-guitarists Ian James and Jerry DiRienzo, drummer Keith Nealy (who was once a guitar tech for Sonic Youth) and bassist David Motamed (ex-Das Damen).
That sophomore effort, helmed by producer John Agnello (Buffalo Tom, Jay Farrar, Steve Wynn), displayed more nuances than its predecessor did; the dense blare of the preceding album was sculpted into more supple arrangements this time around, with the guitars landing somewhere in Crazy Horse territory.
After the dissolution of Cell in the mid-'90s, DiRienzo formed the group Ugly Beauty, which released the album Sweetness in 1997.
