Traditional animation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the traditional animation process, animators will begin by drawing sequences of animation on sheets of paper perforated to fit the peg bars in his desk, often using colored pencils, one picture or "frame" at a time.
Effects animators animate anything that moves and is not a character, including props, vehicles, machinery and phenomena such as fire, rain, and explosions.
The current process, termed "digital ink-and-paint," is the same as traditional ink-and-paint until after the animation drawings are completed; instead of being transferred to cels, the animators' drawings are scanned into a computer, where they are colored and processed using one or more of a variety of software packages.

Cell selector 250 is used to receive information from the extraction tools 240 and the perspective tool 248 and to select the appropriate image cell from the image tools memory 220.
Cell interpolator 252 is an application program which is used to compare the image between two adjacent cells and to interpolate and create smooth motion between these cells, giving the viewer the sense of fluid animation.
As each image cell is selected, the cell is appended 755 to the previously selected cell and the process repeats at step 720 until all of the recorded speech has been analyzed.

 Cell Cycle: An Interactive Animation
During development from stem to fully differentiated, cells in the body alternately divide (mitosis) and "appear" to be resting (interphase).
During this period, the cell is constantly synthesizing RNA, producing protein and growing in size.
All of the cell's energy is focused on the complex and orderly division into two similar daughter cells.

The Cell Cycle & Mitosis Tutorial
The cell is engaged in metabolic activity and performing its prepare for mitosis (the next four phases that lead up to and include nuclear division).
In animal cells, cytokinesis results when a fiber ring composed of a protein called actin around the center of the cell contracts pinching the cell into two daughter cells, each with one nucleus.
In plant cells, the rigid wall requires that a cell plate be synthesized between the two daughter cells.

Traditional a.k.a. Cell Animation   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
In cell animation, each scene or frame to be shot is drawn by hand, usually onto a background which is previously drawn and copied so that the background doesn't have to be drawn over and over again.
Like computer animation, this type of film can be combined with true-life scenes by using the art of blue screening.
Walt Disney Studios, probably the most famous animation studio of all time, has an excellent and extremely detailed tutorial of the animation process, and it should not be overlooked by anyone who is interested in animation.
