Dempsey's music is Irish to the core — as Shane Mac Gowan of the Pogues says of his Celtic comrade, "He sees the beauty that is Ireland and that is Ireland's past and that can be Ireland's future." Yet, just as Marley made the Jamaican experience universal, so Dempsey sings a global song.

In this way, sacrifice in the Druid-Celtic Christian tradition may actually be more akin to some of the Jataka tales in the Buddhist tradition, where particular incarnations of the Buddha offered themselves as a willing sacrifice to a starving tiger, so that the tiger may live.
There is no doubting what his eventual path and destiny would be in effecting the cultural and spiritual tapestry of the Celtic world, but it is often underestimated how influential his Druid tribal upbringing affected him.
The bodies, or so it would seem, are considered sacred by the sacrificers, made sacred via the edifying act of sacrifice, being offered back to the watery world from which we all come.

Michael Flatley roars in 'Celtic Tiger' - By PEGGY TOWNSEND - SENTINEL STAFF WRITER - October 27, 2005
The woman next to me at Michael Flatley's one-night performance of his new dance extravaganza "Celtic Tiger," sat in gray-haired sophistication, her ankles crossed demurely, her hands folded, and waited for the star to appear Tuesday night at HP Pavilion in San Jose.

By the end of the show, both the gray-haired lady and the teenager were on their feet applauding wildly as Flatley and his team of 60 dancers and musicians gave their final bows.

The closure of Seagate in Clonmel with the loss of 1,600 jobs underlines the knife-edge on which the Celtic Tiger economy is balanced.
The point about figures like these however is that they do not contradict the Celtic Tiger, instead they show the ethos on which it is being built, one which excludes those it judges 'uneconomic'.
