Cement or CementCity was on the Missouri Pacific Railroad three miles west of downtown Dallas, south of the Trinity River and north of the old site of La Réunion
Because of an interest in geology he began experimenting with the white rocks on the west bank of the Trinity and discovered in the late 1880s that the area was ideal for lime and cement manufacturing.
By 1931 CementCity was incorporated and had a population of 609 and eight businesses.
The grandparents, J.T. Youngblood and Dorothy Vance Youngblood were both raised in CementCity, Texas and graduated from CementCity High School in 1929.
The house still stands today across the street from the Thomas Edison Junior High School that was built at the same site of CementCity High School.

CementCity borders on the Southeast corner of Jackson County and Northwest corner of Lenawee County in Woodstock Township, a few miles north of the junction of US-127, US-223 and US-12.
Today the cement plant is gone, but its ruins can be viewed southwest of town.
The old plant rests on the shore of Goose Lake, a scenic area which marks the beginning of what is known as the "Irish Hills." The town is primarily a bedroom community to Jackson and Adrian, which both are about 10 miles away.
CementCity is situated in the northwest corner of Lenawee County in Woodstock Township, a couple of miles north of the junction of US-127, US-223 and US-12.
In 1901, investor William Cowhan built a cement company here, and had the town renamed CementCity.
