2001 Census-Based Population Estimates New Census Division Population Estimates   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
On March 9, 2004, Statistics Canada released the first population estimates for Ontario's 49 Census Divisions based on the 2001 Census adjusted for the net undercount.
The differences were due to changes in boundaries, changes in components of demographic growth (births, deaths and migration) and in the "error of closure" which reconciles the 1996 Census-based estimates with the new 2001 Census counts.
According to the new data, between 1996 and 2001, 10 of 49 Census Divisions grew faster than the provincial average (7.3%).
