Tetovo (Macedonian: Тетово, Albanian: Tetovë) is a municipality in northwestern Republic of Macedonia.
The municipality borders Serbia in the north and the west, Tearce municipality in the norteast, Jegunovce in the east, Želino in the southeast and Brvenica in the south and Bogovinje in the soutwest.
The population of the municipality is 86 580 of whom approximately 75 000 live in the municipality center Tetovo, the rest lives in the suburbs and the villages of the municipality.

A research done recently by two entity Ombudsman’s offices revealed that, in several municipalities only, there was at least 6,000 children who were born in hospitals in the period 1992 - 2001 but whose names were not entered into birth registers.
Konjic proved to have 90 children whose names were not registered; the Centar municipality in Sarajevo had 1,485 such children; Tuzla 2,825; the Mostar municipalities of South-West, West and South 345; and the municipality Stari Grad, Mostar - 82 unregistered children.
Since these children do not exist from the perspective of the state or registration, there is a possibility of serious danger in terms of protection of the lives of these children and they may be subject to abuse or harassment, which may be difficult to prove.

Greater Skopje borders Čučer-Sandevo municipality and Serbia in the north, Jegunovce municipality and Želino municipality in the west, Sopište municipality and Studeničani municipality in the south, Ilinden municipality, Lipkovo municipality and Aračinovo municipality in the east.
In 1965 with the law defining the areas of the municipalities in the Socialist Republic of Macedonia, the subareas were abolished and the number of the municipalities is 32.
From 1976 until 1996 Macedonia Skopje is organised as a distinct social-political community comprising of 5 municipalities: Gazi Baba, Karpoš, Kisela Voda,Centar and Čair.

The Municipality Council (established in December 2 2004) has 31 councillors – SDP have got 12 mandates, 12 SDA, 4 SZBiH, 2 SDU and 1 SPU.
Municipal's officials in local communities have estimated the following statistical data (daily fluctuation included): the population of 70.294 as follows: 52.221 (77,58%) Bosniaks, 4.880 (7,25%) Croats, 6.956 (10,33%) Serbs and 3.259 (4,84%) other nationalities in about 25.700 households (average 2,7 persons in household).

Soon simultaneous interpreting is to become an inevitable part of municipal sessions at Centar and Chair, in order to facilitate communication between counsellors of all ethnicities.
This is being based on Articles 88 and 98 of the Local Government Act, concordant to which in territorial units with a considerable number of minority residents (a minimum of 20% of the overall population registered during the last census) their language and script may be granted official status.
In case of the Centar municipality this percentage amounts to 27% as regards the Albanian ethnicity, and in Chair this minority constitutes 28% of the population.

The Association of Women Organizations in Macedonia (SOZM), in cooperation with the Centar Municipality in Skopje, promoted the initiative to provide assistance to the families from the Topana district in Skopje, which lost their homes in the catastrophic fire of October 9 of this year.
With the goal to collect humanitarian assistance to be delivered later to the Topana families, SOZM and Centar Municipality opened an Infor phone-line, which will collect donations from individuals and organizations.
An assistance collection point was opened on Friday, October 22, at the Municipal Building of the Centar Municipality.

The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is once again organizing and financing these elections, the third since the 1995 signing of the Dayton Peace Accords, and their billboards with the same slogan are popping up all over Sarajevo.
The OSCE's slogan for the municipal elections in April was "vote for changes." And that is what happened, with the multi-ethnic Social Democratic Party (SDP) taking control of most of Sarajevo at the local level and gaining seats on municipal councils throughout the country.
In Sarajevo, for example, Novi Grad Municipality head Damir Hadžić is Muslim, Novo Sarajevo Municipality head Željko Komšić is Croat, and Centar Municipality head (and party vice-president) Ljubiša Marković is Serb.

Especially difficult was the problem of space for storing of archival materials since their largest part was stored in the Hanikah building, which was one of the oldest buildings in the city enjoying state protection.
This problem was again not satisfactorily resolved in 1967, when the Archive was allotted new but inadequate premises in the Parliament building of the "Centar" Municipality where a part of the archival materials kept by the Archive was stored.
