	Alaska Centennial Rose Garden History
		This quiet ceremony inaugurated the formal opening of the Centennial Rose Garden, the northernmost municipal rose garden on the North American Continent in the spring of 1967, the year of the Alaska Purchase Centennial.
		The garden, 85 by 110 feet long, is oriented with the entrances at the cardinal points of the compass.
		During the Centennial Year, the official design was laid out in a field of blue and gold that covered the 50 by 50 foot area.

		The gardens will be judged, initially from photographs (a minimum of four and a maximum of six) along with documents of planting and maintenance, and the finalists will be visited by two qualified judges.

	CPS Home Economics Centennial (1902 - 2002)
		o commemorate the celebration of the Centennial of Home Economics, the Steering Committee has proposed the construction of a centennial garden outside the southeast corner of the College of Professional Studies building.
