The Berkman Center for Internet and Society is a department of Harvard Law School, which focuses on the legal study of cyberspace.
Members of the Center do research and write books, articles, weblogs with RSS 2.0 feeds, for which the Center holds the specification, and podcasts, of which the first series took place at the Berkman Center.
The Berkman Center is funding the Openlaw project, and is a co-founder of the OpenNet Initiative.

The Center's present location is a small Victorian wood-frame building which sits next to the larger-scale buildings of the Harvard Law School campus.
Students working at the Center are placed in one of the Hale and Dorr Legal Services Center’s clinics housed in its five substantive practice groups and work with clinical instructors, experienced practitioners and mentors, who supervise student work and provide guidance as students build and manage their own caseload.

The Internet has been built out with special attention and success to schools across the country and around the world.
The fundamentals of Internet protocols and software sprang from the educational and non-profit communities, and we believe these communities can play a useful role in concert with.com to develop the space.
