Central Asia and the South Caucasus are located north of the great mountain chain that divides the Eurasian landmass as a pastoral corridor of flat and easily traversed steppe lands.
Area specialists may have had better understanding of Central Asia, but they failed to meet the challenge in the 1990s because much of their criticism of the economists' universal models was of little practical help to policymakers facing novel problems for which their training had not prepared them.
My research yielded biographies of central elites and regional governors, several databases of tenures of central elites, district governors and collective farm chairs, and local budget figures in each country from 1960-2001 (though gaps in the data remain to be filled).

Fresno State’s Football Coach, Pat Hill, was featured in “King of the Hill,” a three-page spread in the November 2004 issue of “Fresno” magazine which was written by Fresno State alumnus and FSAA member Major Lance Rogers [1993].
In 1998, she was named "RN of the Year" by the Central Valley Coalition of Nursing Organizations.

PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle head coach and North Central graduate John Giannini '84 was chosen as one of 15 finalists for the Jim Phelan Award, which goes to the national coach of the year.
The award, formerly known as the CollegeInsider.com national coach of the year award, was renamed in 2003 to honor the legendary Mount St. Mary's coach, Jim Phelan, who coached more games than anyone in the history of college basketball.
The Chicago, IL native (Fenwick High) earned his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from North Central College in 1984 and his masters in physical education with a specialization in sports psychology from North Texas in 1986.

Just a quick update...we found out yesterday that my daughter Julya has only 4 more treatments after this one and more importantly, this is her last treatment with the drug that makes her so sick.
