The North Central Hockey League was formed in 1983 and consists of 10 skating rinks in Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska, with as many as 20 travel teams representing each rink.
The league sanctioning was announced by USA Hockey InLine Director Gary Del Vecchio (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and North Central Hockey League President Roger Fish (Bethany, Mo.).

The Central Hockey League (CHL) was revived in 1992 by William "Bill" Levins and Ray Miron under the idea of central ownership of both the league and the teams.
In the inaugural 1992-93 season the league had six teams, including the Oklahoma City Blazers, the Tulsa Oilers, the Wichita Thunder, the Memphis RiverKings, the Dallas Freeze and the Fort Worth Fire.
Some teams are affiliated with the American Hockey League and National Hockey League teams for player development.

He will take either a rec league or a travel league as long as he can find a stable one.
we did a couple of seasons of rec hockey @ terrace sports in temple terrace and that was about the most stable rec league i've seen, but it still wasn't great, and that was with the little guys.
