The California Central Valley is a large, flat valley that dominates the central portion of the state of California.
The Valley is also known for its hot weather in the summer and the thick tule fog in the winter.
The Central Valley has become famous around the world as the home of California's giant agriculture industry; the fertile soil is also thought to have originated from the days when the valley was a sea floor.

The program's concerns are flood control; improvement of navigation; the development of hydroelectric power, irrigation, and municipal and industrial water supply; protection of the Sacramento delta from seawater encroachment; and the propagation and preservation of fish and wildlife.
Folsom Dam is one of the several units constructed in the valley by the U.S. Corps of Engineers.
