At the end, the central character may be shocked into realization of the imbalanced beginning key trait and will proactively change his or her fundamental character.
The central character has a key trait at the beginning that is a problem for the character (though he may be unaware of the problem), and this internal problem causes other external problems.
If the character is dynamic, the character is often shocked into some new realization (usually concerning the existence of the internal problem/key trait), and the before trait and the after trait are the conflicting forces in the central internal conflict.

Many writers try too hard to follow what they were taught in school, with the central character cast as the heroic protagonist and the opposition character as the villainous antagonist.
The central character is the character a reader or viewer “follows” through the story.
While the goal is known to the character, his or her emotional need seldom is. The reader can detect the need within a few chapters, but the character doesn’t seem to be aware of the need.

The characters in the subplot, through their ambivalence between two mutually exclusive paths, will either put barriers in the way of the central character of the play's ability to make her final choice or decision, or they will drive her to that decision by giving some assistance.
The central character of a subplot must make his/her final decision or choice almost immediately before the end of Act II, giving the central character of the play the ammunition she needs to make her final decision or choice in the last few minutes of the play.
The central character in the main plot must be facing a) a surface decision involving two mutually exclusive paths, and b) a decisional subtext of significance.

 Character Analysis of Sir Gawain
When the character is believable, the reader is more likely to relate to the character and be drawn into the work.
There are three basic ways a character's personality can be revealed to a reader: what the character thinks about him or herself, how others think and feel about the character, and the character's actions help define his or her personality.
The flaw is enough for him to be human, but not so much as to distort his character to such a point where his actions and his personality do not coincide with each other.

Stratics Central - Whose Character Is It?
If that game still uses a profession/Class system, odds are that you're probably not going to find two characters exactly the same given that each player would customize their character to each individual taste.
It turns out that in spite of this character freedom that has been given, most of us are still turning to play guides and the opinions of fellow players to determine what we should be doing with our characters.
Instead of allowing yourself the joy of slowly discovering your character's strengths and weaknesses over time, it's as though a character isn't 'correct' if it doesn't meet the fashionable criteria of a veteran player.

The Central Character is the one most prominent in the story, either by pages, screen time, or the intensity with which it is drawn.
Here we have set the Villain up as the Main Character, which basically means that the reader or audience experiences the story through the Villain's eyes, and, that the Villain is the one grappling with the moral dilemma and the Hero is the one trying to change his world view.
But, he is definitely the Central Character, and he is the Main Character because we see the story through his eyes and he grapples with the moral dilemma, He is also the Protagonist, because he is the one who take the initiative.

Perhaps we could do other polls like this for other series characters that were often overlooked and didn't get the full character development they deserved.
Naturally, any show centered about this character would have to be pre-death, but could also be continued post-death by following on the surviving family member, their son.
