The Democratic Party won the plurality of votes on the first elections held in 1920, and until 1929 they participated in creation of the government, either independently or in a coalition.
Democratic Party was one of the founders and the biggest party of the Democratic Opposition of Serbia (DOS), and its member until the breakup of the coalition.
New prime minister Zoran Živković, also from Democratic Party, attempted to continue reforms in a fashion of his predecessor, but government was given no confidence vote at the end of the year 2003.

The Democratic Centre (Croatian: Demokratski centar, DC) is a Croatian political party.
The Party was formed in 2000 by Mate Granić who left the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) after their loss on legislative elections and his presidential elections loss.
At the last legislative elections, 23 november 2003, an alliance of the Croatian Social Liberal Party and the Democratic Centre won 4.0 % of the popular vote and 3 out of 151 seats.

To sit on those boards is to know how very precarious the lives of some children are, to see first-hand how children are abused by their parents, how children are abused by people in positions of authority, how they are abused by those under whom they are put in care.

 Washington and the Demise of the Third Wave of democratisation
By the time Clinton and the Democrats came to power in 1993, the Third Wave of democratisation was at its apogee, with the dismantling of the apartheid regime in South Africa and the erosion or collapse of several one-party and personalist regimes in Sub Saharan Africa.
In short, what emerged were liberal democratic systems along the lines of the Washington or Westminster model, along with this regime’s fundamental flaw: the great influence exercised on the decision making process by the realities of severe economic and social inequality.
Here the “democratic centre” is held together by competing political elites which are passively committed to democratic constitutional rules but lack the vision or courage to legislate and implement the program of social and economic democracy that the masses demand.
