Centre Steer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Centre Steer is an early Land Rover prototype automobile.
This, and technical difficulties with a centrally located steering wheel, has lead some sceptics to believe that the "Centre Steer" is merely an urban legend.
Centre Steer is the name given by enthusiasts to the prototype of the Land Rover 4x4 vehicle, so it was never an actual model.

 Biography for: Philip Wilson Steer
Steer was a member of the Society of British Artists, of which JW had become President in 1886, and was amongst those who resigned in 1888 in support of JW.
Steer shared with JW an appreciation of the art of the seventeenth century, particularly that of Gainsborough, Boucher and Watteau.
In 1891 JW paid Steer the compliment of having a painting by Steer depicting a little girl dancing on the stage of a music hall hung in the same room as his own pictures which were being exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.

 Genetic Correlation Results
Carcass data were obtained from 843 crossbred steers born from 1988 to 1998 at the University of Guelph's Elora Beef Research Centre (EBRC), and steers born from 1996 to 1998 at the New Liskeard Agricultural Research Station (NLARS) and Agriculture and Agri-food Canada's Kapuskasing Research Station (KAP).
Steers from the three research centers were finished at the EBRC in typical Ontario feedlot conditions, and were slaughtered when they reached approximately 7 -8 mm backfat.
The correlation estimates relied on pedigree relationships between the bull and steer datasets, because it is impossible to have both steer and bull traits measured on the same animal.

Skid Steer Loader Lego Technic Model
The skid steer concept was introduced by Bobcat in 1960, in response to demands for a loader that would be able to manoeuver effectively in confined spaces.
The method of steering and propulsion is conceptually similar to that of a tracked vehicle - the two wheels on the same side move in unison, with each pair on opposite sides capable of being driven independently.
When unladen, the centre of gravity lies towards the rear of the vehicle near the engine, which makes the centre of steering occur right in the middle of the rear axle, with the front wheels skidding around this.

[trikes] Centre-point steering question - GLR problem??
I suspect that if the the kingpin steering axis (when projected to the ground) is OUTBOARD very slightly of the "centre point" or centre line of the tyre contact patch, then brake steer would be reduced or eliminated.
Glossary: "Centre Point Steering" is where the projected steering axis meets the centreline of the steering patch at ground level.
The effect of brake steer gets larger with increasing speed - it is quite apparent at 70 and 80 kph.....and makes it difficult to brake in an _absolutely and precisely_ straight line with only one brake.

I've heard reports on some of the commercial machines with rim brakes on the front of a tadpole trike that it's possible to instantly roll the trike if one side is pulled on sharply.
(if a force isn't applied to stop the steering) Well recently I had a talk with a guy who seemed quite knowledgeable, he builds race machines, all IC powered (but is also nearly finished a recumbent trike) and had a very different view of what bump steer, brake steer etc are.
When discussing rim brakes on the front of a Tadpole style trike he was convinced the kingpin inclination ought fall inside the tyre contact patch to reduce the brake application steering the machine - he says it's to do with the leverage the wheel has over the pivot.
