Centrica plc has boosted its power generation portfolio by increasing its interest from 60 to 100 per cent in Humber Power Limited, which owns the gas fired 1260MW South Humber Bank power station in North Lincolnshire.
Over the course of the year, based on expected load factors, Centrica's portfolio and its British Energy supply contract will be capable of delivering enough power, in volume terms, to supply the equivalent of its forecast residential customer demand in 2006.
Centrica already operates the largest fleet of combined cycle gas turbine power stations in the UK and has invited tenders for the 1010MW Langage power station project in Devon, where it expects to make a final construction decision in the first half of 2006.
