Cephalic Disorders   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
Cephalic disorders are not necessarily caused by a single factor but may be influenced by hereditary or genetic conditions or by environmental exposures during pregnancy such as medication taken by the mother, maternal infection, or exposure to radiation.
Some cephalic disorders occur when the cranial sutures (the fibrous joints that connect the bones of the skull) join prematurely.
Anencephaly is a neural tube defect that occurs when the cephalic (head) end of the neural tube fails to close, usually between the 23rd and 26th days of pregnancy, resulting in the absence of a major portion of the brain, skull, and scalp.

Rough Edge: Cephalic Carnage CD Reviews
Apparently Cephalic Carnage is a band that must be witnessed live in order to fully appreciate the level of energy and artistry expended.
I'm having a hard time believing that Cephalic Carnage is more intense in concert than they are on "Exploiting Dysfunction," but I'll find out soon enough if the band can exert the power and force in concert as expended by the band's collective muse on this CD.
Cephalic Carnage is Lenzig on vocals, John on drums, Zac and Steve on guitars, and Jawsh on bass and vocals.

Anthropometry obsessions: example of how little the anthropometric measure cephalic index can mean
But if I assume that his cephalic index is, exactly in the middle, or 75 numerically, then the photo in the middle represents Rumsfeld with a cephalic index of 75.
Assuming such to be the case, the Rumsfeld on the left, has a cephalic index of 65, which would be called dolicocephalic, due to a slight narrowing of the face that I have accomplished using the Microsoft Paint Program; and the Rumsfeld on the right would be brachycephalic, with a cephalic index of 85.
Likewise assuming the ape in the middle to have a cephalic index of 75, the ape on the left would be a dolichocephalic with cephalic index of 65 and the ape on the right would be a brachycephalic with a cephalic index of 85.

In other words, external cephalic version means turning the baby from outside of the abdomen so that it's in the head-down position.
External cephalic version is done at the end of pregnancy, after about 37 weeks of gestation.

In anthropometry, the cephalic index has been the favored measurement.
A cephalic index of 80 or more is called brachycephalic or broad; a measurement between 75 and 80 is mesaticephalic; below 75 is considered dolicocephalic or long.

Interventions to help external cephalic version for breech presentation at term (Cochrane Review)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
External cephalic version (turning the fetus to the vertex position by external manipulation) attempts to reduce the chances of breech presentation at birth, and thus reduce the adverse effects of caesarean section, but is not always successful.
Fetal acoustic stimulation in midline fetal spine positions was associated with fewer failures of external cephalic version at term (1 trial, 26 women, RR 0.17, 95% CI 0.05 to 0.60).
External cephalic version failure, non-cephalic births and caesarean sections were reduced in two trials with epidural but not in three with spinal analgesia.

 biology - Cephalic disorder
Some infants, children, and adults die, others remain totally disabled, and an even larger population is partially disabled, functioning well below normal capacity throughout life.
This is a neural tube defect that occurs when the cephalic (head) end of the neural tube fails to close, usually between the 23rd and 26th days of pregnancy, resulting in the absence of a major portion of the brain, skull, and scalp.
Infants with this disorder are born without a forebrain - the largest part of the brain consisting mainly of the cerebrum, which is responsible for thinking and coordination.

 Neonatal Cephalic Pustulosis
To correlate the mycological and clinical findings in neonates with cephalic pustulosis, we carried out a prospective case-control study in a neonatal unit from February to April 1997 using new techniques for classifying Malassezia species.
Cultures from swabs and smears of pustules were obtained from patients, and swabs from healthy site-matched skin were obtained from controls.
The prevalence of Malassezia species increased with age, and the severity of the pustulosis was correlated with the isolation of M sympodialis.

The overwhelming timbres, color variations, horrific soundscapes, and sheer aggression of this opus is a testament to the daring genius of Cephalic Carnage, embracing grind as a progressive artform of fusile extremes, inspiring and unifying the avant-guard metal community in a fashion similar to underground favorites Dying Fetus, Dillinger Escape Plan, Meshuggah, and more.
On the flipside, some of the album's most enjoyable and completely satisfying moments are the sludgy, doom-inspired refrains that do wonders to massage and decompress your brain, shifting the context before once again assaulting you with a dence blast of beat variations.
Cephalic Carnage's collective members have been playing in bands and music in general for so long their mastery of instruments is obvious.

American Family Physician: External cephalic version for breech presentation at term - includes editor's note - Tips ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
There were 154 patients who had a successful version without a uterine scar and in whom fetal presentation remained cephalic at the time of labor.
The study also indicates that patients undergoing successful versions may experience a higher risk of dystocia, resulting in a higher incidence of augmentation, longer duration of labor and increased incidence of cesarean delivery as a result of arrest of labor.
The authors conclude that pregnancies after a successful external cephalic version should be considered high risk, with appropriate monitoring of fetal well-being during labor.

 NGC - NGC Summary
Because the risk of an adverse event occurring as a result of external cephalic version (ECV) is small and the cesarean delivery rate is significantly lower among women who have undergone successful version, all women near term with breech presentations should be offered a version attempt.
Contraindications to external cephalic version (ECV) are based on a common-sense approach designed to minimize the risks of an adverse outcome and to maximize the chances for success.
There is scant information concerning external cephalic version (ECV) attempts among women who have a preexisting uterine scar or who undergo the procedure during the early stages of labor.

External cephalic version may reduce the number of breech presentations and caesarean sections, but there also have been reports of complications with the procedure.
External cephalic version at term was associated with a significant reduction in non-cephalic births (relative risk (RR) 0.42, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.35 to 0.50) and caesarean section (RR 0.52, 95% CI 0.39 to 0.71).
There is not enough evidence from randomised trials to assess complications of external cephalic version at term.
