Unitary authority in southwest Wales, created in 1996 from part of the former county of Dyfed, of which it was a district.

Note that the 'Index of Change' is a calculation to summaries the identity between old and new constituencies: it is calculated as the sum of the electors added and the electors removed from the base constituency as a percentage of the base constituency's electorate.
To make it easier to understand, in the tables showing where the old and new constituency electorates went or came from, the old constituencies are in lower case and the new ones in all caps.
Personally, I'd just prefer to see a correctly sized constituency - the only practical (as opposed to emotional) affect on representation this would have is that an MP would have more constituents and therefore less time to spend on the 2/3rds of the constituency he used to represent.

In 1974, he stood as the Liberal Party candidate in the General Election and became the Member of Parliament for the then constituency of Cardigan.
He went on to represent the area from 1974 until 1992 and for several years was leader of his party in Wales.
During this time, the name of his constituency changed to Ceredigion and North Pembrokeshire and his party went from being the Liberals to the SDP then the Liberal Democrats.

The Prime Minister's commitment to make NHS dentistry available to all has been forgotten. NHS dentistry in Ceredigion is already the preserve of the few, not the many: just 31 per cent of the population is registered with an NHS dentist.
My constituency workload reflects a high demand from patients seeking to register with the NHS or in need of emergency treatment as an unregistered patient. The prime responsibility for NHS dentistry in Wales rests with the National Assembly.
Most constituents are told to contact NHS Direct, who seem to have no sense of transport or distances in rural Wales. Solutions are painfully slow to emerge.

Cynog Glyndwr Dafis (born 1 February 1938) is a Welsh politician and member of the Plaid Cymru party.
He was an Member of Parliament for Ceredigion from 1992 until 2000, having been supported by a coalition of local Plaid Cymru and Green party activists.
Soon after the elections in 2003, he announced his candidacy for leadership of the party, but lost to Dafydd Iwan.

As you can see, I'm pretty sure (as of now) that Labour will suffer some nasty swings in more middle class constituencies (and it's hard not to note that we only held Cardiff North and Vale of Glamorgan in the General Election due to the personal votes of two very good M.P's...).
Senior strategists say Nicol does not want to share office with a party “on the way down” and would prefer to keep his options open on a three-way coalition with the SNP and Greens.
For the SSP to get 7% of the vote, up on 2003 after the Sheridan trial and splitting in two is suprising, likewise with the Greens.

Mark Williams entered Parliament at his fourth attempt in 2005, regaining this seat from Plaid Cymru after 13 years.
After graduating Mark became a part-time researcher to the Liberal Peers in the House of Lords, but was determined to stay in Ceredigion; until 1992 he spent half the week and all the Parliamentary holidays there as assistant to Geraint Howells.
Mark then trained to be a teacher at the University of Plymouth and taught in England for several years before becoming Deputy Head of Ysgol Llangors, Nr Brecon, in 2000.
