As Cerezo's faithful chanted, their chants were entirely (at least as far as my understanding went) positive -- the team name over and over, or the name of an individual player, especially after he had made a fine play.
At half, the soccer gods seemed to be smiling on Osaka when Cerezo was awarded a controversial penalty kick (What penalty kick call isn¿t controversial to the defenders involved in the play?) allowed Cerezo to tie the game at 1-1 with only seconds left in injury time.
Cerezo rallied gallantly and scored on a brilliant header by Japanese international forward Akinori Nishizawa, but their efforts fell short.

 FC TOKYO
Cerezo's mini-revival had lasted only a few minutes and once again poor defending led to their downfall as Tokyo restored the 2 goal cushion.
Osaka had no option now but to go into all out attack and given the already flimsy defending more goals were anticipated from the sparkling Tokyo attack.
Cerezo responded by introducing 19 year-old attacking midfielder and first year pro Okubo and his prescence lent their attack some added punch but goalkeeper Doi was equal to anything they could throw at him, batting away away a series of shots.

For nearly a decade, he served as the heart and soul of the Cerezo team.
However, his role as the field general and ball distributor in Cerezo's highly fluid attack suits him perfectly.

Urawa Red Diamonds, Kashima Antlers, JEF United Ichihara Chiba along with Gamba Osaka were one point behind J-League leaders Cerezo Osaka as the nail biting began with the rising of the sun on 3 December.
Gamba's success, their first since the current J-league was born in 1993, was underpinned not only by the trio of Brazilian stars, J1 top scorer Araujo, Fernandinho, and captain Sidiclei, but also the power and leadership of Miyamoto and his fellow graduates of Gamba's youth programme.
Head coach Nishino, gushed with praise for his players for both their efforts exerted on the pitch and their unwavering loyalty to their distinctive style, showing what a magical combination attacking flair and investment in young talent can be.
