 Cerulean Warblers in Eastern Ontario
Throughout much of its breeding range, the Cerulean Warbler is experiencing precipitous declines in numbers; estimates derived from Breeding Bird Survey data show as much as a 3.4 percent decline per year from 1966 to 1997.
In general, Cerulean Warblers are thought to require large tracts of mature, deciduous forest; however, their small-scale habitat affinities are poorly understood beyond the general conclusion that they prefer large trees with dense canopies as nest habitat.
This relatively rapid shift in behavior implies that Cerulean Warblers possess a degree of plasticity in their habitat affinities and that this plasticity rendered the population relatively resilient to the particular disturbance.

Because the Cerulean is also an area-sensitive species, meaning that it requires a large tract of suitable forest cover, management at the landscape level also needs to be considered.

WellPoint ups bid for Cerulean to $680M - Nov. 27, 2000
The Trigon bid comes just as Cerulean, Georgia's largest health insurer with a roughly 22 percent market share in that state, and Wellpoint were putting the final touches on a $500 million cash-and-stock merger agreement reached in July 1998.
During that period, however, Cerulean dramatically improved its bottom-line performance, leaving Trigon, which lost the original bidding war for Cerulean to WellPoint, with the opening it was seeking.
Company officials said Cerulean's improved financial performance as well as the prospect of extending its reach into the fast-growing Georgia market prompted their re-entrance into the bidding process.
