The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a four-seat, single-engine, high-wing airplane.
The 172 was a direct descendant of the Cessna 170, which used conventional (taildragger) landing gear instead of tricycle gear.
Cessna produced a retractable-gear version of the 172 named the Cutlass 172RG and also produced versions on floats.

It could be argued that the combination of the Cessna 180/185 and Snohomish pop-up jump door made skydiving possible in most parts of the country.
The company prospered and acquired a Cessna 182 for the New England DZ's and later acquired a pair of Cessna 180's Orange and Lakewood to relieve the demands by experienced jumpers on the Norseman.
Though many newer jumpers see the Cessna 206 as the mainstay single engine jump plane, most of the older jumpers see the Cessna 180/185 complimented by the Beechcraft Model 18 (twin) as the back bone of the air fleet that made jumping what it is today.

 Cessna Airmaster History
Clyde Cessna was a self-taught and well known early barnstormer, racer, and designer of aircraft, and he had gone into business during the 20's building aircraft professionally.
Their classic lines were carried forward by Cessna into the postwar era with the Cessna 195, a much enlarged and all-aluminum cruiser.
Even before the 195 was built, though, it too was a throwback design, for by the end of WWII Cessna had hit upon the formula that was to make Cessna the most prolific manufacturer of light airplanes in the world.

Manufactured in anticipation of a postwar aviation boom that never quite materialized, the 195 continued in Cessna's tradition of high-wing monoplanes and combined the all-metal skin of a military craft with a luxurious interior.
When it was marketed to business executives in 1947, the 195 was the Cadillac of four-place aircraft and featured chrome-vanadium, fixed landing gear, upholstered foam cushions and adjustable seats, cabin temperature adjustment and a large luggage compartment that was accessible from inside and outside the plane.
Like most civilian aircraft, Cessna 195s are found in many schemes, but those who prefer military colors can turn the 195 into the U.S. Air Force LC-126A, which was equipped with interchangeable wheel, float and ski landing gear for Arctic rescue work.
