 FlightSim.Com Review: Eaglesoft Citation X
Cessna are proud of their baby, pointing out that 'the world's fastest business aircraft is also the world's most aerodynamically advanced'.
The larger Cessnas have traditionally handled pretty well - the 412 has almost fighter like responses for a plane of its size and the Citation is no slouch either, so this is an enjoyable sim to fly.
Judging from the number of repaints that are appearing in the file lists, it looks set to overtake the Lear in the popularity stakes and I guess it is about time we took a look at it.

 Cessna Helicopter
Cessna test pilot Jack Zimmerman (now deceased; Jack was a WWII helicopter pilot flying Sikorsky R-4s) was the pilot for these flights and flew off the Peak with Captain Knowles of Fort Carson and then with the commanding general of Fort Carson, Major General Van Houten.
Cessna was awarded an Army contract for $1.1 million to build ten ships, designated as the YH-41 Seneca, for military evaluation purposes, this contract being signed in the spring of 1956.
Never a commercial or military success, the history of the Cessna helicopter program, with the handicap of it being conducted within an airplane-oriented company, is generally spurned and forgotten today by this business-jet based firm which answers to corporate legions psychically far removed from the world of ancient whirly birds.

 August/September 2003
I knew Cessna was not happy when the USAF would not even talk to them (as I heard) in the A-10 competition, but the replacement for the T-37 trainer situation puts even more light on why Cessna was disgusted with the whole politics of it and got rid of everything on the two well-proven aircraft.
Cessna had developed a twin-engine, jet replacement for the T-37, and had a multi-nation consortium prepared to produce an attack version of the airplane.
Cessna did not surrender drawings for the A-37B in response to being approached by the USAF, but because of a business decision stemming from the loss of the follow-on trainer contract in favor of Raytheon's T-6 "Texan II".

 Pirep: Cessna T-37
The T-37 first flew in 1954 and Cessna is still cranking them out today, a fact that tends to go unnoticed in an age that is seeing the F-4 already relegated to National Guard and static display duties.
Cessna's little dolphin nosed bird with the barn door wings has been tugging at my heart strings ever since I watched my first one grease it on somewhere in South Texas.
Also, it would have to have external fuel tanks, such as those on the A-37, to be really useful.

 PIREP-Square Tail Cessna Hawk
To those who have never flown an earlier Cessna, their first thoughts on climbing into the cabin is that they are sitting so high.
This is an illusion caused by the fact that modern Cessna instrument panels are so much higher than the older ones because of the demands for more places to put more gadgets.
Built in 1957, only one year after the airplane was introduced, it is the quintessential early Cessna which is usually referred to simply as a "square tail."
