Chaddesden is a large suburb of Derby, United Kingdom, formerly known as Cedesdene.
It was rebuilt by Henry Chaddesden, Archdeacon of Leicester, around 1357.
The family lived at Chaddesden Hall, which was demolished in the 1920s when the Wilmot family sold its estate.

It is situated on the outskirts of Derby and borders the suburb of Chaddesden, which is one of the largest council housing estates in England.
The original oak wood, from which the area is named, has been preserved as Chaddesden Wood Nature Reserve, and is maintained by the council.
There is also a sizeable park surrounding a modern community centre, as well as many smaller areas, or "green wedges" that have been designed to provide routes throughout the estate for use by people and also wildlife.

The eastern part of Derwent ward, and southern part of Breadsall ward form what is commonly termed as the 'Chaddesden area' and encompass the Chaddesden estate.

Chaddesden (recorded in the Domesday Book as Cedesdene) and is one of Derby's largest suburbs, it is situated about two and a half miles east of the city.
The grounds are now Chaddesden Park which is a well used park, and contain a paddling pool and children's play area as well as area's for cricket and golf.
Chaddesden Park, above left is the site of the annual fair and above right is the children's paddling pool, below left is the sports field / cricket ground with the pavilion in the distance, and bottom right is the children's play area.

People in the Chaddesden area of Derby are being invited to a police street briefing.
Sergeant Dave Tapp, who's responsible for policing in the Chaddesden and Derwent areas, said: "We staged the first street briefing in Derbyshire during the summer and it proved very popular with local people.
Anyone living in the Chaddesden area is invited to attend the briefing.

St Marks Church in Francis Street was built in 1938 by Naylor & Sale, and St Philips Church in Taddington Road was built in 1954-55 by S.W Milburn to service an ever expanding population, Chaddesden soon becoming the largest suburb of Derby.
The name of Wilmot is still used by the local pub and garage.
