Chaffee County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado.
Chaffee County was created by the Colorado legislature on February 10, 1879 out of southern Lake County (although at the time, Lake County was known as Carbonate County, a designation which lasted for only two days).
In the county the population was spread out with 19.70% under the age of 18, 7.70% from 18 to 24, 28.00% from 25 to 44, 27.50% from 45 to 64, and 17.00% who were 65 years of age or older.

Lake County was one of the original 17 counties created by the Colorado legislature on November 1, 1861.
Lake County slowly lost territory over the succeeding decades, losing land in its southeast to Saguache County in 1866 and Hinsdale County in 1874; in its southwest to La Plata County in 1874 and San Juan County in 1876, and in its west to Ouray and Gunnison counties in 1877.
In the county the population was spread out with 26.90% under the age of 18, 12.80% from 18 to 24, 33.10% from 25 to 44, 20.60% from 45 to 64, and 6.60% who were 65 years of age or older.

The man who pays tax on his dog has paid for the privilege of keeping the animal and generally the dog is worth it, but the multi-colored, worthless, ownerless curs are a nuisance and should be gotten rid of.
The county commissioners are meeting today and will continue to meet until all the names on the petition have been checked against the tax roll to ascertain if those signing were qualified.

Buena Vista was my base, and I pretty much drove throughout the county including Granite, Buena Vista, Salida and the Chalk Cliffs area near Natrhop.
