Collecting Chalcidoidea Chalcidoidea includes 19 families of parasitic hymenopterans that range in size from 0.1 mm to 45 mm, often with bright metallic coloration and intricate sculpture. Chalcidoidea is characterized by highly reduced forewing venation consisting of (at most) a single vein complex subdivided into submarginal, marginal, postmarginal and stigmal veins (Chalcid wing).
