		It is said that in the study of Mizo history, it starts from Champhai and ends at Chmphai.Since it is situated at the border, trade also flourished and is one of the most important trade centre in the state.

		Talking to HR and LN members on Saturday, the woman said the YMA members of Tuipui village, located twenty km from Champhai towards Aizawl, has hounded her son-in-law and his family out of the village and destroyed his home after the YMA found a small amount of liquor in his possession.
		However, on the instigation of Tuipui YMA, Champhai Venglai YMA has refused to let the son-in-law stay even in his parents house saying he needed to ask forgiveness from the Tuipui YMA first.

		During 1954, when he was compelled by circumstances to join middle school in a neighboring village, he was very hesitant as he was then still very young and non of his friends from his village were there to keep company.
		He finished his high school at Champhai from Samthang village, and in 1960 his family shifted to Champhai.
		It was in 1961 that he passed his matriculation, but he could not join college as the family was too poor to finance his further education.

		In his capacity as the opposition leader with the rank of a cabinet minister, Lal Thanhawla called a meeting of district government officials during his tour at Champhai town where he instructed the deputy commissioner to look into allegations that development funds were not being handed over to village councils.
		Hawla also expressed his concern that apart from the six Congress village councils within Champhai district that the MNF government had dissolved without proper justification, plans were afoot to dissolve more Congress dominated village councils.
