Even though Fruit Chan is technically from China in two respects (he was born in Canton and Hong Kong has been part of China for nearly a decade)....but in terms of putting it "in print," saying "Fruit Chan of Hong Kong" is more accurate.
Jet Li would be difficult to place...b/c saying he is from China is more correct than saying Fruit Chan is from China; but the whopping majority (if not all) of Jet Li's films were made in HK.
