Changdeokgung (Changdeok Palace) is a palace located in Seoul, South Korea.
Changdeokgung was the site of the royal court and the seat of government until 1872, when the neighboring Gyeongbokgung was rebuilt.
Portions of the palace were used to film the hugely popular Korean Drama Dae Jang Geum in the 2000s.

As it happens, after the Japanese invasion of 1592, Changdeokgung and the main palace Gyeongbukgung were both destroyed, but Changdeokgung was rebuilt, and used as the main palace until the 19th century some time.
The Changdeokgung grounds cover something like 110 acres of land, most of which is made up of a "secret garden" which is off limits to the public in order to preserve the nature.
Changdeokgung represents the most authentic and oldest examples of Korean architecture, as more of it survived the Japanese invasions than any other palace in Seoul.

I visited a few palaces - Unhyongung and Changdeokgung.
Unhyongung wasn't too exciting but then I went to Changdeoukgung and it was beautiful.
