Channel Islands was formally created as America's 40th national park on March 5, 1980, adding San Miguel, Santa Cruz, and Santa Barbara Islands to the protected area.
Channel Islands National Park features a rich array of sea birds, fish and other aquatic animals, as well as marine mammals.
The park comprises 248,515 on five islands, including Anacapa (East, Middle, and West, totaling 1.1 square miles), Santa Cruz (96 square miles), Santa Rosa (84 square miles), San Miguel (14 square miles), and Santa Barbara, (1 square mile) in additional to 1,252 square nautical miles off the islands themselves.

There are also two seasons each year where we specifically go out into the waters of the Santa Barbara Channel and the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary just to look for whales.

On Brampton Island....the Beachside Units have the best water views, and the cheapest accommodation is the Carlisle Units, which overlook Carlisle Island and channel, which separates the two islands.
I've stayed on Brampton a few times now, and there is something which i can't explain, that makes Brampton, so much more friendlier, less touristy, less people on the island, which all goes to making your holiday, so much memorable.
