Chanterelle is the highest string of any instrument of the violin family (from violin to double bass) while the lowest string is named Bourdon.
But on further research, it seems there is confusion with a False Chanterelle, (Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca) that is poisonous and another one that is actually not a chanterelle but a poisonous jack-o-lantern (Omphalotus olearius).
