I gave the Chantico a Good rather than a Very Good rating because of the (to me) floury texture and the fact that it really is very sweet: sweet on the nose and with sweetness as the predominant aftertaste.

 AHN | Starbucks Drops Chantico | March 14, 2007
Chantico is a rich chocolate drink introduced with much fanfare last year, because it was not adaptable to different customer tastes.
Described as "a drinkable dessert," Chantico resembled the thick, sweet hot chocolate found in European cafes but was only available without any variations in a 6-ounce size.
In the end, that limitation irked customers who are used to dictating not only the size of their lattes and cappuccinos, but also whether they want regular or decaf coffee, non-fat, whole or soy milk, sugar-free or regular flavor shots, and even extras like whipped cream and caramel.

Hot beverages: striking the health-indulgence balance - Drinks Business Review
Starbucks is to remove Chantico, the rich hot chocolate drink launched with much fanfare at the beginning of last year, from its menus in the US.
While the move is somewhat surprising given the increasing popularity of chocolate-based hot beverages, it is clear that Starbucks needs to reassess the delicate balance between indulgence and health when considering a replacement.
Indulgence was clearly the defining characteristic of Starbucks' Chantico: the product was described as a 'drinkable dessert', steamed with cocoa butter and whole milk to give it a thick and creamy texture.
