Chaos model - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In computing, the Chaos model is a structure of software development that extends the spiral model and waterfall model.
The chaos model was defined by (the pseudonymous) L.B.S. Raccoon.
The chaos model notes that the phases of the life cycle apply to all levels of projects, from the whole project to individual lines of code.

Spiral model - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The spiral model is a software development process combining elements of both design and prototyping-in-stages, in an effort to combine advantages of top-down and bottom-up concepts.
This model was not the first model to discuss iterative development, but it was the first model to explain why the iteration matters.
For a typical shrink-wrap application, the spiral model might mean that you have a rough-cut of user elements (without the pretty graphics) as an operable application, add features in phases, and, at some point, add the final graphics.

 Chaos on Europa
This model is motivated chiefly by interest in pursuing an explanation of the nature of chaos areas in terms of what they simply appear to be: pools which disrupted older terrain and allowed mobility of rafts of older terrain for some time before refreezing occurred, leaving a matrix of frozen slush.
That model may prove to be viable once it is fully developed, but it has yet to explain the uniformity along great lengths of ridges, the lack of pre-existing terrain on ridge flanks, or the paucity of possible central ridges of upwelled material.
Chaos areas seem to get smaller and sparcer the farther north they are in the northern hemisphere in the regions where we have adequate resolution for this mapping.

 David Christini's Research
Abstract Here we show that chaos control techniques can be used to stabilize unstable periodic orbits in a non-chaotic system provided additive noise can be utilized: (1) to determine the local dynamics of a chosen orbit, and (2) to move the system's trajectory into the neighborhood of the orbit so that control can be initiated.
Here chaos control, periodic pacing and anticontrol were applied to a noise-driven, non-chaotic neuronal model, and results similar to those recently reported for apparently chaotic, in vitro neuronal networks were obtained.
Model residual variance was used as the primary inter-model comparison criterion, with significance evaluated by a c2 distributed statistic.

The model includes a very small random variation in the initial value of level, but the values for three consecutive runs, all with gain set to 2.7, diverge after about 60 time units.
