 | | Just to the west and south of Lençóis is the Parque Nacional Chapada Diamantina (national park) that extends through parts of four other municipalities, having a total area of 152,000 hectares (375,552 acres). |
 | | Besides having exotic flora, the park is inhabited by plenty of wildlife, such as quati (coati, related to the raccoon), cutia (agouti, a rodent the size of a rabbit), suçuarana (puma), veado (deer), onça-pintada (jaguar), araras (macaws), and curiós (finches). |
 | | The best bet for a one-day walk in the park is to see its most spectacular site: the highest waterfall in Brazil—Cachoeira Glass—a small stream that tumbles 400 meters (1,312 feet) down over a mesa, becoming nothing more than a fine mist before it reaches the bottom. |
