Chapel Hill Lighthouse (latitude 40° 23' 51" by longitude 74° 3' 33")(Map) was erected in 1856, and was an rear range light.
The Chapel Hill Lighthouse was built by Richard Carlow, Jr., upon a three acre tract once owned by Timothy Mount, and purchased by the government in 1853 for the purpose of constructing a lighthouse thereupon.
Richard Allen Norton was the keeper of the Chapel Hill and Conover Beacon from 1943-1953.

One of the themes I've been repeating in Chapel Hill and Greensboro is the usefulness of a weekly open bloggers meeting, like the one we started at Berkman Center.
Once a week, weather permitting, the conference room is opened to anyone who shows up and a discussion follows about whatever is in the air among bloggers, mostly in the Boston area, but certainly not limited to Boston.
Now, after much pleading and cajoling by me, at brunch today, Anton Zuiker, who was the driving force behind Saturday's conference, said that they're going to start meeting on Wednesdays at 6PM, at a location to be determined.

In December, 1997, the Board of Directors voted to change the group's legal name to the Chapel Hill Zen Center to reflect the group's growing membership and more established status.
