AM: What is interesting to me is that the Stick is an electric, stringed instrument like a guitar or bass, but it isn't featured very often in popular, or what I am referring to as "mainstream," channels.
There seems to be a fairly high level of musicianship in the Stick world and I wonder if that is perhaps a reason why it is not always featured in the types of music and types of music presentation that I am referring to.

In simple terms the Chapman Stick is a long guitar-like fingerboard that accommodates 10 strings (or 12 strings for the new Grand Stick) across 25 frets, with a stereo pickup near the base and tuning pegs at the top.
Standard Stick tuning has the melody strings in 4ths (F#BEAD lowest to highest) and the bass in 5ths (CGDAE-the low C string as the 6th string and ascending to the tenth string.

The 8 string Sticks are more like guitar’s or basses with a few extra lower bass strings added, but they’re still tuned to 4ths (like bass or guitar).
This Cipher for Stick section essentially duplicates the all of the fretboard related material in Core Cipher Components — Group Two (fretboard components) section, with all drawings being appropriate to the 10 string Stick fretboard.
There would be just too many drawings required to adequately cover 8, 10, and 12 string Sticks, in two tunings each, plus the exponential increase in necessary pattern study due to the mixing of 4ths and 5ths tunings within a single instrument.
