In computer science, state is a concept in automata theory which occasionally extends into some forms of systems programming such as lexers and parsers.
Whether the automaton in question is a finite state machine, a pushdown automaton or a full-fledged Turing machine, a state is a particular set of instructions which will be executed in response to the machine's input.
A character encoding such as ISO 2022 is said to be stateful if the interpretation of a particular code value depends on the code values that came before it.

Quantum computer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In a classical (or conventional) computer, the amount of data is measured by bits; in a quantum computer, it is measured by qubits.
Quantum computers are different from classical computers such as DNA computers and computers based on transistors, even though these may ultimately use some kind of quantum mechanical effect (for example covalent bonds).
This random string can be used in computing the value of a function because (by design) the probability distribution of the measured output bitstring is skewed in favor of the correct value of the function.
