In Pixar’s latest project “The Incredibles”, the animators have been allowed to use the genius they had for backgrounds and environments to help amplify a world that used to have superheroes.
I kind of wished the animators were allowed to keep the characters looking as real as their environment.
You see we did use to have superheroes but eventually people started suing the heroes after people were saved from burning buildings and attempted suicides.

Originally, Snug would have also flown the plane and gotten killed when it was shot down, thus raising the stakes for the characters.
The animators convinced Brad Bird to have Helen fly the plane herself, rather than spending money on a minor character for only a few minutes of screen time.

Hairy problems in creating lemurs / Compromise, technical innovation help animators overcome obstacles
DreamWorks Animation's nemesis, Pixar, dove into squash and stretch last fall with the smash hit "The Incredibles." In that movie, an ironic take on the superhero genre, animators used distortion for humor and expressed some of the characters' powers by showing extreme distortion, as when Elastigirl's arms stretched way out.
When animators tried to get their 3-D characters to squash down small or to stretch out a leg farther than would be possible in the real world, strange things happened.
This kind of distortion, known in the animation world as squash and stretch, is a classic technique for making on-screen movement more vivid and more fun to watch.
