Higgsino - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The higgsino is a Dirac fermion and that is a weak isodoublet with hypercharge half under the Standard Model gauge symmetries.
These states mix with the neutralinos and charginos from the bino and wino.
A linear combination of the higgsino, bino and wino make up the lightest supersymmetric particle, which is a particle physics candidate for the dark matter of the universe.

From simulation studies, and from the experience of LEP 2, the chargino should be observed at the LC with relatively small luminosity samples at masses up to 90% of the beam energy.
It is typical that the second lightest neutralino is almost degenerate with the chargino.
Presumably, the best strategy is to study the lighter chargino and use its properties to predict the location of the heavier one.

Lower limit at the 95% CL of the difference between the number of chargino events expected and the ones allowed in the data (it depends on the candidates found and on the background computed), as a function of the chargino mass.
In correspondence of any chargino mass, the mass of the sneutrino has been let vary, but only for values of the mass greather than (mass of the chargino + 2 GeV/c²): for lower sneutrino masses, the lifetime shorten quickly, thus removing any significance also to the limits obtained with the decay length methods.

The results for both selections can be translated into 95% CL upper limits on the cross section for associated production of charginos and neutralinos with decays into final states with 3 leptons.
Since both analyses cover a couple of decay channels each, the results are given as limits on the cross section of the process chargino+neutralino -> 3 leptons + X, assuming equal branching fractions into the lepton flavours, which is common as long as the leptons are mass degenerate (for neglegible stau mixing).
They are valid for parameter combinations with comparable chargino and neutralino mass relations, which is true for a large part of the mSUGRA parameter space.

A search for charginos and neutralinos, predicted by supersymmetric theories, has been performed using a data sample of 57 pb-1 at centre-of-mass energies of 181-184 GeV taken with the OPAL detector at LEP.
Upper limits on chargino and neutralino pair production cross-sections are obtained as a function of the chargino mass, the lightest neutralino mass, and the second lightest neutralino mass.
Exclusion regions at 95% confidence level of parameters of the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model are determined for the case of a large universal scalar mass, m_0, implying heavy scalar fermions, and for the case of a small m_0 resulting in light scalar fermions and giving the worst-case limits.

For the chargino pair production with subsequent two-body decay of one of the charginos we have shown that charge and beam polarization asymmetries in the energy distributions of the decay particles are sensitive to the interference of scalar exchange channels with different CP quantum numbers.
For the chargino pair production with subsequent two-body decays of both charginos we have defined energy distribution and angular asymmetries in the final particles, in order to analyze the spin-spin correlations of the charginos.
The transverse polarizations of the charginos are sensitive to the CP quantum number of the exchanged Higgs bosons and can thus be used to separate overlapping resonances, as well as to determine the CP quantum number of a single resonance.

$T$ violating asymmetries in the production processes of the different neutralino pair and the different chargino pair emerge at the tree level.
In a pair production of the charginos of the same mass, the asymmetry emerges through the electric and the weak "electric" dipole moments of the charginos at the loop level, but its magnitude is at most of order $10^{-4}$.
