Charlbury (/ˈtʃɑːlb(ə)ˌɹi/, /ˈtʃɔːl-/, or /ˈtʃɔw-/, in the IPA) is a small northwest Oxfordshire town bordering the Cotswolds, England on a hillside overlooking the Evenlode river and the Wychwood forest.
Charlbury's parish church of St.Mary the Virgin is by tradition associated with Saint Diuma, the first Bishop of Mercia, though the present building is 17th Century in date.
On the outskirts of Charlbury is Lee Place, the former Dower House of Ditchley and now the summer home of the Duke of Marlborough.

Between Finstock and Charlbury the large deer park to the west of the line is Cornbury Park, venue for the Cornbury Music Festival.
The stately home at the centre of the park is Cornbury House, currently owned by Lord Rotherwick, a Conservative politician whose father tried to claim GBP 1.6 million from Oxfordshire County Council for establishing a public footpath across the park.
Charlbury station is the first stop for faster trains over the line and retains its original OWWR clapperboard building.

Charlbury is easily found - from Oxford go through Woodstock on the A44, about 11/2 miles past Woodstock turn left at the Shell petrol station onto the B4437 and on to Charlbury.
Charlbury Railway station is only two minutes walk from the festival site.
On entering Charlbury, directions to the festival site will be sign posted, but if you miss them, follow the signs for Burford which will take you to the right side of the town.

On Friday 17th January, a talk was given to Finstock Local History Society by John Boynton, the author of the historical book, "The Oxford Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway", which was published early in the year.
The name plates, were funded by the Cotswold Line Promotion Group, partly from its "Cotswold Line 150 Fund" and partly by a donation made in 1997 by the widow of a former member, Mr T V Lodge of Reading.
The original ceremony at Didcot Parkway station on 19th June had to be cancelled at the very last minute due to the line at Burnham, between Reading and London, being closed by a lineside fire and the train and some of the guests being stranded in the London area.

The original Forest Fair began in the late18th century and was held at Newhill Plain, Cornbury.
Any profit from the Fair will be used by the Friends of Wychwood to help fund the Wychwood Project, which works with local people to restore habitats and create woodlands within the boundaries of the ancient Forest of Wychwood.
The 2005 Wychwood Forest Fair will be held at Banbury Hill Farm, on the Enstone Road near Charlbury, Oxfordshire, on Sunday 4th September from noon until 5pm.
