CHARLES O., one of the leading citizens of Greenwood, is engaged in the real estate business, was born in a log house on the site of the present city of Grand Rapids, Wood County, Wis., Feb. 11, 1847, son of David and Elizabeth (Kline) Baker.
Charles O. Baker acquired the elements of knowledge in a little frame school house, about 12 by 16 feet in size, which was the first, or one of the first school buildings in Grand Rapids.
Baker has taken a high place in the community, both as a businessman and as a loyal and public spirited citizen, and is universally respected.

Charles Laurence Baker, structural geologist, was born in Coe Township, Rock Island County, Illinois, on October 10, 1887, the son of Rudolphus James Rodney and Alice (Drennan) Baker.
Baker is remembered for his forays of two to three weeks alone and on foot into the desert, for his extensive explorations in Mexico, and for his search for hydrocarbons in California.
Baker retired in 1953 to the farm in Cordova, Illinois, where he had grown up, and died on April 7, 1979, at East Lansing, Michigan.

Charles Fuller Baker (1872-1927) spent most of his career as a teacher of agronomy and agriculture; but he maintained a steady interest in entomology, which he indulged at every opportunity.
