Charles was happily married to actress Virginia Valli, who also started as an actress in silent films, from 1932 until her death in 1968.
Charles Farrell died on May 6th, 1990 of a heart attack, in Palm Springs, California.

Once a huge star in films of the late 1920s and early 1930s, and a frequent leading man of Janet Gaynor, Charles Farrell has more or less been forgotten by modern movie fans.
In the Margie series Charles Farrell was still an attractive middle-aged man, but the photo above, presumably from the early 1930s (?), reveals that the young Farrell was perhaps the Brad Pitt of his day.
And wasn't Farrell doing nude scenes way back in the 1920s?
