  Global Missiology
Kraft has neither the intention nor the pretension to declare himself a theologian (whether it be an “evangelical” one or not is beside the point).
Kraft was on of the dozens of participants and presenters (Kraft 1980b) at the Consultation on Gospel and Culture held at Willowbank, Somerset Bridge, Bermuda from 6th to 13th January 1978, sponsored by the Lausanne Theology and Education Group.
Kraft’s model is built on the “synchronic” dimension of “functional linguistics” and “transformational grammar” which would lead him to be devoid of the historical dimension of the Bible in his interpretation (e.g.

Theology Today - Vol 37, No. 2 - July 1980 - BOOK REVIEW - Christianity in Culture: A Study in Dynamic Biblical ...
Charles H. Kraft, Professor of Anthropology and African,Studies, School of World Mission, Fuller Theological Seminary, has undertaken such a study in his recent book.
Kraft suggests a series of thirteen models or grids in terms of which to view the dynamics of God's revelation, the cultural matrices in which it is received, and the interaction between the divine message and culture, as well as other interconnected realities.
What is particularly surprising in Dr. Kraft's study is the lack of reference to significant contributions made by other Christian denominations to the question of revelation/faith and culture.

Berith.org -- Essays -- Worldviews and Culture: Interacting with Charles Kraft, N. T. Wright, & Scripture
Henry does not deny that Kraft intends to be an evangelical, true to the historical faith of the Church, but he demonstrates clearly and irrefutably that if Kraft really wishes to maintain the faithfulness to the truth that he professes, he will have to offer major revisions of his views of Christianity and culture.
Kraft declares this belief in the validity of other cultures to be the equivalent in anthropology of the Golden Rule in theology (ibid.
Kraft believes that the notion of a particular worldview being Biblical "could easily be misconstrued to imply either that there is only one cultural worldview in the Bible (which there isn't) or that God endorses one or another of those worldviews as normative for everyone (which he doesn't)."[4] Kraft goes on to explain,

Mr Kraft is an honest and kindhearted man who has studied these matters all his life and speaks with great eloquence -- even though he is mistaken in a number of his opinions.
Although Dr. Kraft is coming at this subject through a Protestant view and his technique of questioning demons is rather controversial it is a very excellent and well written book on the subject.

Supplementary Reading Report on Anthropological Insights for Missionaries, Paul G. Hiebert
While Kraft's text is intended as a comprehensive introduction to cultural anthropology from a Christian perspective, Hiebert's text is focused more specifically on certain insights for missionaries and does not cover much of the anthropological material that is included in Kraft.
Kraft also covers both of these topics (contextualization and missionary cultural assumptions), but they are, in general, scattered throughout his book.
Kraft repeatedly insists that meanings are never in forms, but that meanings exist in people and are assigned by them to particular forms.

Kraft sets the stage by developing scales, which presumably measure indigeneity, derived from the analytical constructs of form, function, and meaning.

So, the three crucial dimensions of our Christian experience are our relationship to Christ with all the love and obedience that entails, the understanding that comes from continually experiencing His truth and the spiritual power Jesus gives us in love to use as He used it to express His love to others.
In areas such as healing, dedicating and blessing, for example, we and animists do essentially the same things but the source of their power is Satan, the Source of ours is God.
This and many other problems that have arisen because of the lack of attention to the contextualization of spiritual power desperately need to be faced and worked through to discover answers that are both scripturally and culturally appropriate.
