Hudson-Mohawk Genealogical and Family Memoirs: Van Rensselaer
Her mother was Catherine Van Rensselaer, born in The Crailo, Greenbush (Rensselaer, N. Y.), November 4, 1734, died in the Schuyler Mansion, Albany, March 7, 1803, and was daughter of Johannes Van Rensselaer and Engeltie (Angelica) Livingston, the latter being the daughter of Robert Livingston, Jun., twelfth mayor of Albany.
Van Rensselaer found it necessary to look critically after the interests of his Manor, for in order to secure good returns it was essential that the lands should be cultivated, and while speculators would buy lands, the farmers, or laborious tillers of the soil, were unwilling to contract for the fee.
Van Rensselaer, urged by his party to uphold their moral force in the controversy, consented to stand as a candidate for the assembly, and despite his popularity was beaten.

Newport Vintage Books - Mystery Dustjackets - S. S. Van Dine   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
It is his pleasant habit after each murder to suggest a false clue in a little nursery rhyme, which, considering the circumstances of the crimes, gives the case a particularly mystifying and fiendish appearance.
Van Dine, in this new book, puts Gracie Allen and George Burns into a real Philo Vance murder mystery, with Gracie helping Philo in her own inimitably nitwit way to put the final finger on the killer.
Van Dine has added a lavish helping of the kind of hilarity for which Gracie Allen is famous, and the sum total is a first-class Philo Vance story, with District Attorney Markham and Sergeant Heath, plus more humor than one usually finds in a shopful of mysteries.

The van Ravenswaay Family Series is divided into two subseries: a section dealing specifically with Charles van Ravenswaay which contains awards, biographical data, household inventories, and his U.S. Navy papers; and a section relating to the van Ravenswaay family consisting of family correspondence, land deeds, and genealogies of the various branches of the family.
Included in the van Ravenswaay family history is an account of the life of Clementine Neubauer van Hoefen, Charles van Ravenswaay's paternal great-grandmother, who served as a missionary with her husband in the Dutch East Indies during the mid-to-late-1800s.
