Charles Henry Hudson, Jr., son of Charles and Julia (Cheney) Hudson and grandson of Ben and Nancy (Snow) Cheney, was born on December 7, 1866 in Otho, Webster, IA, died January 14, 1936 in Ft. Dodge, Webster, IA, and was married on December 20, 1888 in Ft. Dodge to Myrtle Irene Muzzy.
Charles Oscar Hudson born July 15, 1895 in Evanston, died June 5, 1951 in Boxholm, Boone, IA, married on February 26, 1919 in Ft. Dodge to Clara Nellie Tonhouse.
Hudson, a lifelong resident of the county, was born in a log cabin east of Otho on the farm land familiarly known as “Hudson’s Bend.” The place of his birth was the original Hudson homestead and adjoins the farm on the Des Moines River which he operated for years.

During his 1801 journey to John Masten's farm to purchase the skeleton of a mastodon, Charles Willson Peale made seventeen finished and three unfinished sketches of the scenery along the Hudson River in the vicinity of West Point, Fort Clinton, and Fort Putnam.
Charles Willson Peale's Hudson River Sketchbook is a graphic record of the journey to unearth the mastodon skeleton that became the centerpiece of Peale's Philadelphia Museum.
The original album is inscribed from Charles Willson Peale to Titian Ramsay Peale, June 1822, and includes brief notes on the mastodon bones, apparently enumerating the bones that had been excavated.
