Captain Hallie W. Smith was the pilot and First Lieutenant Charles L. Bifolchi the navigator aboard an RF4C Phantom reconnaissance jet from the 16th Tactical Recon Squadron at Than Son Nhut Airbase, South Vietnam.
The name on one of the cards was Bifolchi’s youngest son, Air Force Major Charles Lawrence Bifolchi, a navigator whose Phantom jet had been shot down in Vietnam during a reconnaissance mission on January 8, 1968.
Lawrence Norton, a spokesman for the Quincy Chapter of the Vietnam Combat Veterans Combined Armed Forces, said it was only fitting to honor Bifolchi in recognition for making the ultimate sacrifice for his country.

Charles Lawrence (December 14, 1709 – October 19, 1760) was a British military officer who, as lieutenant governor and subsequently governor of Nova Scotia, was responsible for overseeing the expulsion of Acadians from the colony in the Great Upheaval.
In 1753, he directed the settlement of European Protestants on the coast south of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
He is said to have died of pneumonia in 1760, after over-indulging in a local Halifax, Nova Scotia banquet; others report that he died "after catching a chill."

The inscription on this gravestone reads, "Charles Lawrence and family.
All perished in the Peshtigo Fire." The accounting of the known dead in an 1873 report to the Wisconsin Legislature lists "Lawerence, Charles, wife and four children; fled from lower sugar bush to village, and were all burned near the river." This stone, and others like it, can be found in the Peshtigo Fire Cemetery.
