Charles Poletti (July 2, 1903 – August 8, 2002) was the; governor of New York in 1942.
Poletti himself said that the Army selected him because, aside from his experience in state politics, the population would be more likely to respect someone of Italian ancestry.
Poletti died at the age of 99 in 2002; at the; time of his death, he was the eldest living U.S. governor.

The Charles Poletti Power Project is located in Astoria, Queens, across the East River from Manhattan's skyscrapers.
The Power Authority purchased the Poletti project, then known as Astoria 6, from Con Edison in 1974, when the oil-fueled plant was still under construction.
The 885-megawatt (mw) Poletti project, and a new 500-mw combined-cycle power plant built directly next door, enable the Power Authority to meet the electricity requirements of its large government customers in New York City, who save hundreds of millions of dollars a year in lower energy costs by using NYPA-generated electricity.

The Papers of Charles Poletti were presented to The Herbert H. Lehman Papers School of International Affairs, Columbia University by Charles Poletti in September, 1972.
Charles Poletti's long association with Herbert Lehman began in 1933, when as a young lawyer he was recommended for appointment as Counsel to the Governor by his friend and former professor, Felix Frankfurter.
Charles Poletti has generously continued to donate material to this archive, keeping his papers up-to-date as well as filling in some gaps in the correspondence.

Charles Poletti '28 of Marco Island, Fla., died August 8, 2002.
Earlier in his career, Poletti was counsel to the Democratic National Committee and counsel to Gov. Herbert H. Lehman, and he was elected to the State Supreme Court in 1937.
He previously worked for 18 years at Poletti, Freidin, Prashker, Feldman and Gartner in New York City, where he was a managing partner for many years.

The 825-MW Charles Poletti Power Plant, operated by the New York Power Authority (NYPA), is located on the East River in New York, and supplies power to over 10,000 public facilities and many residents and businesses in the greater New York area.
In operation since 1977, the plant’s shoreline intake and discharge into the East River, potentially affected fish populations inhabiting the East River, Long Island Sound, the lower Hudson River estuary and New York Harbor, and Raritan Bay.
The PBS&J/LMS joint venture coordinated the activities of five consulting firms and one academic institution in the performance of 14 complex project components to produce CMR estimates for the target species.
