Charles Turnbull (1753-1795) was born in Kingston on Thames, England in 1753 and immigrated to America before the Revolution.
In 1775, as the confrontation between the colonies and England moved toward military conflict, Turnbull joined the Pennsylvania Artillery, and in 1777, he was promoted to captain of the 4th Battalion of the Continental Army Artillery.
Turnbull survived and was paroled and exchanged in 1780.

The late Richard Herbert Turnbull, affectionately called "Harvey" or "Pappy", was born in Brewers Bay, Tortola on June 5th, 1907.
The late Richard Herbert Turnbull is also survived by daughters-in-law Cynthelia, Ritsia, Barbara, Frances, Delita and Robin Turnbull and Bernice Braithwaite; fifteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, special cousins, other relatives and friends.

Frick (1855-) and the National Savings and Trust Co. of Washington.
His grandson, William Turnbull Frick (born 1855), contributes letters, 1868-1869, largely from his father, his brother Charles, and his grandmother while William is away at school.
Charles has many opinions about the course of war while in 1862 St. Louis - he supports McClellan, for example, but thinks Meigs andldquo;A damned fool.andrdquo; He is also critical of the dangers of train travel.
