CHARLESTON, SC -- The Charleston Battery defeated the Montreal Impact by a score of three goals to one Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium in front of 3,124.
In the 38th minute the Battery were awarded a free-kick in the Montreal half; midfielder Jeff Matteo swept in a deep cross to Ben Hollingsworth who kept the ball in play just wide of the goal.
Charleston doubled its advantage in the 60th minute with some excellent interplay at the edge of the box.
