Barbara Palmer, 1st Duchess of Cleveland - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lady Anne Palmer, later FitzRoy (1661-1722), probably daughter of Charles II, although some people believed she bore a resemblance to the Earl of Chesterfield.
However, no-one in the court was sure whether this was an indication that she was being jettisoned by Charles, or whether this was a sign that she was even higher in his favours.
The Dukedom was made with a special remainder which allowed it to be passed to her eldest son, Charles FitzRoy, even though he was illegitimate.

The name Fiztrovia describes the area located around Fitzroy Square and Charlotte Street, including Great Portland Street in the east, Gower Street in the west, Oxford Street in the south and Euston Road in the north.
Myth has it that its unusual name was thought up by Dylan Thomas or George Orwell, who regularly drank in Charlotte Street's Fitzroy Tavern - certainly contributing to the areas popularity with literary and media types ever since.
Charlotte Street is its hub and a meeting place for the media and advertising worlds, which means there's a lot of air kissing going on.

Her task of fending for the family was not an easy one, for means were small, and the house the resort of all the Italian refugees who at that time came flocking to London.
Scholars, organ-grinders, political adventurers, needy aristocrats, painters, poets would foregather in Charlotte Street, to lament the state of their country and discuss literature, art, and mystical interpretations of Dante with Professor Rossetti (he had been appointed to the Professorship of Italian at King's College in 1831).
Like Charlotte Yonge, that other daughter of the Catholic Movement, Christina Rossetti from the days of her youth went regularly to confession.
