The city of Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the 20th largest in the United States, with a population of 651,101 (2005 estimate).
Charlotte is on the list of cities that the Florida Marlins are considering for relocation; team officials are expected to visit the city in late February or early March 2006 to discuss a move with city leaders and consider a plan to build a privately-funded stadium downtown.
Charlotte's central location between the population centers of the northeast and southeast has made it a transportation focal point and primary distribution center, with two major interstate highways, I-85 and I-77, intersecting near the city's center.

According to Rouse, the people of Charlotte stood "on the threshold of opportunity." To step back from the challenge, he insisted, would propel Charlotte in the wrong direction.
Voters had approved a bond referendum the previous year to fund street improvements in the Center City; and the leveling of virtually every structure in the Second Ward or "Brooklyn" neighborhood, a large African American enclave, was already proceeding apace.

I believe Charlotte has plenty of space near uptown outside of 277 to support what may be the next craze in development, "urban single family".

As we only stayed for one night we did not experience any of the hotel food or service but I would have expected it to be good.
It has a great place to eat and is in a central location to the city.
The staff could have cared less that it disturbed our sleep or that it was a false alarm.
